YES, THERE ARE TIME WHEN WORKING FOR THE S.O. THERE JOB IS CAKE. JUST TO SIT BY AND WAIT FOR A CALL. OTHER TIMES IT’S NOT LIKE THAT; WITH THE ROBBERIES, MURDER, DOMESTIC, CIVIL PROBLEMS, SHOOTING, ETC. THOSE ARE THE DUTIES THAT THEY TAKE ON WHEN BECOMING AN OFFICER. THE FIRST PROMBLEM ID LIKE TO ACKNOWLEDGE IS THE FACT THAT THE SHERIFF IS AN ELECTED POSITION. I DO NOT THINK THAT ANY PERSON SHOULD BE ABLE TO RUN FOR SHERIFF. HONESTLY, THERE SHOULD BE A BOARD OF COUNTY OFFICALS THAT SHOULD LET PPL APPLY AND DO A VERY EXTENSIVE INTERVIEW PROCESS AND THEN HIRE THE BEST CANADATE. THEN INLIES ANOTHER PROBLEM AND I WILL CALL THIS THE "WHO YOU KNOW AND WHO YOU BLOW". SO DALE CO SHOULD BE ABLE TO MAYBE DO INTERVIEW WITH COUNTY OFFICALS AND ON LIKE THE TOP 3 HAVE THE COUNTY VOTE ON IT OR VICE-VERSA. SECONDLY, DCSO GOES IN AT 2AM; THEY SHOULD HAVE TO STAY OUT ALL NIGHT! WHEN A 911 COMES IN, OZARK-DALE CO 911 HAS TO FRIST CALL A SUPERVISOR AND ASK WHO THEY WANT THEY TO SEND OUT, THEN CALL THAT PERSON. THEY HAVE TO GET UP GET DRESSED AND REGRETTABLY GO TO A CALL HALF ASLEEP. THIS COULD CAUSE A NUMBER OF PROBLEMS, LIKE A WRECH, EXTENSIVE DELAYS ON TIME TO A CALL, PPL GETTING INJURIED OR EVEN KILLED. DALE COUNTY IS SPLIT INTO THREE SECTIONS. NORTH WHICH IS OZARK NORTH TO THE COUNTY LINES, SOUTHWEST WHICH IS DALEVILLE, LEVELPLIANS AND CLAYHACHEE AREAS AND SOUTHEAST WHICH IS NEWTON PINCKARD AND MIDLAND CITY AREAS. EACH ONE OF THOSE AREAS HAS ONE AND ONLY ONE DEPUTY IN IT. THEN YOU HAVE YOUR SHIFT SUPERVISER THAT ROAMS THROUGH OUT THE COUNTY. YES CERTAIN SUPERVISERS HAVE AREAS THAT THEY LIKE TO STAY IN. THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BY THE SHERIFF. BUT HONESTLY THINK ABOUT IT, HOW CAN THE SHERIFF TRACK ALL OF HIS UNITS. HE CAN’T! OZARK DALE CO DISPATCHER CANT KEEP UP WITH THEM HALF THE TIME AS IT IS. IF YOU COULD JUST SEE THE TIMES. ON A DOMESTIC CALL WITH ALL PARTIES ON SCENE, THERE HAS BEEN POINTS AND TIMES WERE THERE BEEN UP TO 50 MINS WITH OUT A FRIST STATUS CHECK, (ACCORDING TO APCO WHICH IS THE CERT THAT DISPATCHERS MUST HAVE STATES THE A POLICE OFFICER SHOULD NEVER GO LONGER THAT 3 TO 5 MINS WITH OUT A STATUS CHECK UNLESS THE OFFICER ON SCENE TELL YOU TO DISREGUARD STATUS CHECK. AND IT DOES NOT MATTER IF THERE IS 1 OFFICER OR 20 OFFICERS THERE IT SHOULD BE DONE THAT WAY EVERY TIME THEY GET OUT OF THERE VEH UNLESS THEY ARE GOING TO THE BATHROOM OR GETING FOOD. AND YES THERE ARE 10 CODES FOR THESE) THRIDLY, THE PROBLEMS WITH ANY OFFICER ANYWHERE IS THE FACT THAT MOST OF THEM CAN NOT KEEP IT IN THERE PANTS. WEATHER THEY ARE MARRIED OR NOT. FOR SOME ODD REASONS FEMALES LOVE A MAN IN A UNIFORM. IT DOES NOT MATTER IF IT IS A POLICE OFFICER, FIREMAN, PARAMEDIC, BASIC OR MILITARY. THERE IS A THING CALLED UNBECOMING OF AN OFFICER, NOW WEATHER THE HIGHER UP DECIDE TO USE IT OR NOT ITS AT THIER DISCRETION. BASICALLY THEY HAVE TO HAVE PROOF, COLD HARD EVDIENCE! WITHOUT IT THERE IS NOTHING THAT THEY CAN DO OR WILL DO. IF SOMEONE MAKES A COMPLAINT THEN IT WILL BE INVESTIGATED BUT WITH OUT PROOF THERE CAN BE NO REPIRMAND. HONESTLY HOW COULD THERE BE. OR SO THEY SAID.  IF ANY ONE KNOW REALLY WHAT IS TO HAPPEN. OH I DO I DO! YEAH ITS CALLED JAIL TIME AND UP TO 100,000 IN FINES. THATS JUST THE TIP OF THE ICE BURG. But David this person is talking about Central not DCSO.  They are not the reason they have problems.

I certainly hope that there is not a change on the HORIZON for Dale County Sheriff’s Office. I know that here is not a finer man than Wally Olson. Having gone thru a horrible family situation in 2007… I could not have asked for a more PROFFESIONAL group of individual …Than the Dale County Sheriff’s Office. Wally …you have mine and my family’s vote!!

DD I think what you should do is ask Wally to sit down with you and voice your concerns with him. I'm sure he will listen, and explain his points as well as you can explain yours. Coming on a public forum and bashing the DCSO is not the way to get things changed. Ifyou truly have these concers you can also bring them forward to the Dale County Commission. Just try to do it the way the restof us do. I don't think things are so bad you couldn't get an audience with Wally, but if you want to be a Sherrif or any other politician you have to start with diplomacy.
