- 2009-004 Relates to Receipts not being issued for all monies received
- 2009-008 Relates to an up-to-date inventory listing of equipmenr not
being maintained
- 2006-001 Relates to adequate documentation not being maintained
for all disbursements

* Internal Revenue Service regulations require a Form 1099 be issued to
individuals receiving at least $600.00 for payment of service. The Dale
County Sheriff failed to issue IRS Form 1099 to individuals administering
flight tests that received more than $600.00.
* Minimurn Accounting Requirernents for the Office of Sherifl as prescribed
by the chief Examiner, require the sheriff to provide procedures which
would allow for the issuance of Receipts for all collections, Receipts were not
always issued for amounts collected for the Sheriff Aviation Fund.
* Minimum Accounting Requirements for the 0ffice of Sheriff, as prescribed
bv the Chief Examiner, require the Sheriffto mainrain a listing of ali
equipment, including firearms purchased. This listing should include the
date purchased, serial number, property identification number,location, and
all other information necessary to properiy identift the item. Equipment
should be periodically inventoried by the sheriffor his/her designated
representative t0 ensure the equipment listing is accurate and up-to-date
and to ensure all equipment, including firearms, is properly accounted for.
A complete inventory filling of all assets (weapons, vehicles, equipment, and
furniture) under the direct contLol of the Sheriff's Department was n,t
maintained. Serial numbers and other infonnation necessary to properly
identifv an item was not always documented, A periodic inventory *u, not
