and now that Larry's is gone I'm Hungry. Is there anyplace in town that can help me, or must I continue to go out out of town.
I'm so starved that I'm even thinking of purchasing a smoker.

There is one going in downtown Ozark where Shivers used to be. Willie J's is the name I think.

Guess I'll have to ride downtown and follow my nose (any idea when they'll open?). Thank you.

My quest has led me to the Traeger Brand of wood pellet smokers.
Anyone here have/use one? I'm hungry for some smoked meat.

I couldn't wait so I went and did it.

Friday I traveled over to Morgan, GA. to purchase it - a 34 inch Traeger Pro pellet smoker; this evening I did my first smoke on it: a 6.5 pound Pork Shoulder. It served 4 with plenty of leftovers, all for less than a single meal at most BBQ joints. Served with Mac n cheese, baked beans, pot salad, slaw, cukes, bread and Mr Sam Adams.

The downside, I spent 12 hours smelling it before I could get to it. It was smackin' good.

As of this afternoon I've now prepared eight feasts on this smoker, everyone of them a winner.
BUT ... my problem is finding best quality (Beef, Pork) meat cuts deserving of basking in this smoker; I have no problem finding hungry mouths to dispose of it.

Please let me know of if you are aware of any old type butchers serving the Wiregrass?
    TY.

I see where Willys is now open (limited hours have prevented me from trying them); so what's the verdict?
Good/great food? Cheap/fair/ expensive prices? I will give them a look see soon.

Last week we ate at the Mex place across from the old Larrys' BBQ; I had an Alambres - it was good, $14, and enough for two.
My other enjoyed their $1 Margaritas (twice) along with some shrimp something or other.

Once again I tried but just couldn't do it - Willie was closed.
Thanks to the Rodeo Mex Place supper came up a winner.

I've now heard two reports about Willeys, one said it was OK the other said the staff was very inattentive; neither sound positive for a great Q experience. We're looking at going there tomorrow - so interested in any other reviews that could chime in?

Our backup plan is The Old Barn Restaurant/Steakhouse, in Goshen (10 miles west of Troy). Expensive but very good. Be early or you may have a long wait.

I guess I need to be the one that answers my question, how is Willeys?

We finally made it to Willeys; parking on the square was the typical dreadful experience (6:30 PM) but inside the main restaurant area it was mostly empty - I think there was a group in a more rearward area. I wanted thin sliced pork = not available, only chipped pork (with the choice of it on a sandwich or plate). As I was hungry I accepted. My other half ordered a HALF salad which when presented looked quite substantial to me/ imagine what a full one would look like.

The meals were served quickly and we both enjoyed it. Serving sizes were ample for us.
The pork platter with fries, overly fine shredded cole slaw and soggy toasted bread was $9. The salad was $6, tea at $2.
    My ice water was FREE.

I know we'll return but we WILL BRING WARM JACKETS WITH US.

Remember: your mileage may vary and
Kids, don't try this at home.
